The Wear Orange Bracelet was created to honor victims and survivors of gun violence and to stand in solidarity with communities working toward a safer future. Each June, people across the country wear orange to raise awareness, remember lives lost, and support efforts to end gun violence.

Why Orange?

In 2013, Hadiya Pendleton marched in President Obama’s second inaugural parade. One week later, she was tragically shot and killed in Chicago. To honor her life, Hadiya’s friends chose to wear orange—the color hunters wear to protect themselves. Today, orange has become a national symbol of remembrance, protection, and collective action.
