Immerse yourself in the vibrant, colorful world of Tenango embroidery during this special beginner workshop led by Beatriz Segura of B Magic Craft Hands.

Tenango embroidery is a stunning textile tradition originating with the Otomí people of Tenango de Doria, Hidalgo, Mexico. Its intricate designs featuring flora, fauna, and mythical imagery were historically inspired by ancient cave paintings found in San Nicolás, creating a meaningful way to document community life, nature, and cultural stories.

During this relaxed and welcoming workshop, Beatriz will introduce participants to the fundamentals of Tenango embroidery from the very beginning. You’ll learn how to create the traditional “pata de gallo” stitch, which produces solid stitching on the front and a clean finish on the reverse.

No previous embroidery experience is needed. The rhythmic process of stitching provides an opportunity to slow down, work with color, and participate in the preservation and appreciation of a beautiful textile tradition.
